On third November 2008 Dominica take the opportunity to reflect on the progress and development made during the last 30 years as an independent nation. Dominican people all over the world will celebrate this time together, and we invite all Dominicans and friends of Dominica to join us in our celebration.
During this celebration of the past 30 years, much will be highlighted to demonstrate the progress and developments on the island and its society. Visit us at this time of our celebration and experience our wild, rugged Dominican setting and our rural life full of warmth and laughter.
With a population of 71,000, Dominica lies in the eastern Caribbean, between Guadeloupe to the north and Martinique to the south. The Caribs, indigenous people of the Caribbean, whose numbers have dwindled to 3,000, live as a community on the northeast of the island and still practice the art of traditional basketry.
