The Freshwater Lake
Anse De Mai
This fishing village is located in a picturesque bay. It is a official port of entry and one can sometimes get day-trips to the nearby French island of Marie Galante. Reached after a pleasant drive from Portmouth or from Melville Hall
Carholm Lake  at Layou
Also known as 'Matiere Lake', it was formed by a massive landslide in 1997, and has now settled into a beautiful, deep lake.

It is possible to walk down to the lake, but is still considered an unstable area and caution must be exercised expecially if one does walk down. For many the view from the road above is the best.

Reached after a 20 minute drive along a difficult road off the main Layou River road.
